BERNINA, a global leader in sewing technology, turned to Boomerang Ideas as part of their website relaunch project. Their mission? To validate a potential new persona across six key markets, back it with data, and compare it with their existing personas to refine their business strategy.
Challenge
BERNINA needed to assess whether a potential new persona was distinct enough to warrant a new communication and marketing focus or if it overlapped too heavily with their existing personas. This process was critical to ensure that their segmentation and targeting efforts were both relevant and efficient.
Method

Using Boomerang Ideas’ intuitive survey platform, BERNINA ran six targeted surveys across key markets. These surveys included tailored screening questions designed to:
- Test assumptions about the new persona
- Identify overlaps between personas
- Refine their segmentation strategy

What six surveys across six markets answered
Overlap large enough that the candidate was dropped
- AExisting persona
- already in the segmentation
- BCandidate persona
- the one under test
- The candidate persona was discarded.
- The existing personas were sharpened on the findings.
- The communication concepts were widened to reach the audience behind the candidate.
